West Bank: Palestinian teen killed by Israeli forces – Palestinian official

RAMALLAH (Reuters) – Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian teenager during clashes in the occupied West Bank on Friday, Palestinian leaders said.

Israeli border police said that “masked suspects threw rocks and stones, putting soldiers’ lives at risk” during clashes in Umm Safa village near the city of Ramallah, adding that a border policeman fired back.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said a 17-year-old villager died.

Weekly demonstrations are held in Umm Safa to protest Israeli settlements, which often turn into clashes pitting protesters against Israeli forces.

Violence has escalated in recent months with an increase in Israeli raids in the West Bank, attacks on Palestinians and Israeli residents on Palestinian villages.
