Ukraine: according to an AFP source, the special services and the navy are behind the attack on the Crimean bridge
Ukrainian special services and the navy attacked the Crimea bridge with “naval drones”, a source in the Ukrainian security services (SBU) told AFP on Monday.
“Today’s attack on the Crimean bridge is a special operation by the SBU and the Navy,” the source told AFP. “The bridge was attacked using Navy drones,” he added.
The bridge linking Russia to the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, which Moscow annexed in 2014 and serves as a rear base for Russian forces fighting in Ukraine, was attacked in the night from Monday to Tuesday , causing significant damage to its road section.
Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak commented on Twitter, “Any illegal structure used to deliver Russian devices of mass murder is inevitably short-lived … whatever the causes of the destruction.”
According to Russian officials, the attack on the bridge killed two civilians and disrupted road traffic on the bridge and caused a lengthy traffic jam. Rail traffic through the bridge was also temporarily suspended, according to Russian officials, before resuming in the morning.
