Peru: seizure of 58 kg of cocaine emblazoned with Nazi symbols
Peru’s anti-narcotics police announced on Thursday the seizure of 58 kilos of cocaine ready to be shipped to Belgium from a port in the country’s north, packed in individual packets emblazoned with Nazi flags.
The white powder was distributed in approximately fifty packets with the word “Hitler” written on top.
The cargo was discovered in a container on a Liberian-flagged ship at the port terminal in Paita, a small town near the equator. There was no information about any arrest.
Peru is one of the three largest cocaine-producing countries in the world, along with Bolivia and Colombia.
Officials estimate its production at 400 tons per year. Some 22 tonnes were seized in 2022.
