North Korea: the first visit of the Russian and Chinese delegation after the epidemic

SEOUL (Reuters) – A Russian delegation led by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu will visit North Korea this week, state media KCNA said on Tuesday, joining a group of Chinese diplomats in the first such visit to the country since the start of the pandemic.

KCNA reported that the two delegations are scheduled to attend the 70th anniversary celebrations of “Victory Day” in the Korean War in Pyongyang on Thursday.

North Korea closed its borders in early 2020 and suspended trade and diplomatic exchanges even with its main Russian and Chinese allies.

Westerners accuse China of helping North Korea evade sanctions while the United States says Pyongyang sent military aid to Russia for its war in Ukraine.

Allegations that Beijing, Moscow and Pyongyang deny.
