Croatia: WWII underwater mine destruction

A 150-kilogram World War II underwater mine that was found in a Croatian port in June was destroyed on Sunday during an operation that required the evacuation of hundreds of residents, local civil defense said. This mine, laid by the German army 80 years ago, was accidentally found in a 50 meter deep excavation in the port of Rijeka (North) during construction work. The machine was partially covered by the sand of the seabed.
