The Dane consolidated his advantage over Tadej Pogacar on Tuesday by winning the only time trial of this 2023 Tour de France between Passy and Combloux (Haute-Savoie).

He had announced that the Tour would not be played in a matter of seconds. Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) proved it right on Tuesday 18 July, during his landslide victory in the time trial between Passy and Combloux (Haute-Savoie). Relegating the second classified Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), second in the stage at 1’38”, almost two minutes in the general classification, the Dane stunned the Tour in 22.4 kilometres. Now it will take a feat for the Slovenian to overthrow the Tour, when there are only two mountain stages left and his rival has gained the lead both in terms of counts and psychologically in the duel between them.

Behind the two aliens, Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) finished third at almost three minutes. In particular, he precedes Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) who conquers the third place overall in favor of Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos-Grenadiers). First in the provisional classification, the French champion in the discipline Rémi Cavagna (Soudal-Quick-Step) obtained the 6th place in this 16th stage.
