Probably the most difficult stage of the Tour de France took place on Wednesday July 19th. The last one in the Alps. And it was fatal for the challenger. Slovenian Tadej Pogačar didn’t hold up on the last climb.
On the road to the Alps, this Wednesday 19 July, the Slovenian Tadej Pogačar broke down, letting slip the yellow jersey a little further on, during what was probably the most difficult stage of the Grande Boucle. “It was really hard. I am tired. It’s one of the most difficult phases, I think, of my career.”testified Thibaut Pinot, rider of the Groupama-FDJ team.
“it’s bent”
During this stage, Tadej Pogačar crashed, before being eliminated from the group of favourites. Dane Jonas Vingegaard now looks untouchable, en route to a second consecutive win. The public, still very numerous on the side of the road, didn’t let a crumb of the confrontation escape, even if the matches seem to have already been played in advance. “I think it is bent unfortunately. We hoped for it until yesterday and the time trial made everyone agree”, commented a spectator. Now there are only four stages left before the Champs-Elysées.
