The Bleues leave to attack the Jamaican goal, but remain silent
The Bleues are expected by their fans. Deprived of several managers, but in full relaunch with Hervé Renard, France enters the race on Sunday 23 July at the World Cup in Sydney against Jamaica at noon. Around the new coach Hervé Renard, the 23 selected show a newfound ambition and will try to break the glass ceiling. Match favorites, the French looked like they were on loan throughout the first half, despite a few chances before the break. Everything remains to be done for both teams. Follow our live.
Brand absent. France are without several injured managers in each position (forwards Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Delphine Cascarino, midfielder Amandine Henry and defender Griedge Mbock). The Bleues will therefore have to rely on the skill of Sakina Karchaoui, Eugénie Le Sommer or Kadidiatou Diani.
A tactical evolution? herve Fox always started in the 4-3-3 with a sentinel player, but the manager has to revise his plans due to injuries in his group. He leans towards a new organization in the 4-4-2 with the Lyonnais Amel Majri and the Parisian Clara Mateo on either side of the centre, and the Geyoro-Toletti duo on the axis.
France’s favorite. Up front, Jamaica is betting on its athletic players and prolific striker Khadija Shaw, credited with 31 goals in 30 games this season for his club, Manchester City. The Jamaicans will try to win their first meeting in the finals of the World Cup, after participating in their first World Cup in 2019 in France.
With doors closed. The match takes place in the brand new Sydney Football Stadium, a 40,500-seat enclosure that opened in September 2022. The stands are expected to be full or almost full.
