The world number 2 is stalled. Tennis Canada announced on Sunday, July 23 that Novak Djokovic would not play the Masters 1000 in Toronto (August 7-13) due to fatigue. A decision that comes a week after the final lost in five sets against Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon. After talking to my team, we think it’s the right decision to make.”quotes the Canadian organization’s press release.

The Serbian, who has plans for the US Open, for which he has finally obtained permission to participate, has not been seen in the Canadian tournament since the defeat in the round of 16 of the 2018 edition against Stefanos Tsitsipas. He will not succeed the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, winner in 2022.
