It’s the first day of the last week. A step towards the Champs-Elysées which could prove decisive, on Tuesday 18 July, with a 22.4km time trial between Passy and Combloux (live on France 3 and france.tv from 1pm). An exercise in which every detail counts. With just 10 seconds between Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), the suspense is total for the final victory.

The first kilometers of the day will immediately set the tone with the Côte de la Cascade de Coeur, not included in the mountains classification, but which will offer a selective first raid. After about ten kilometers downhill or flat between the two intermediates, this 16th stage will take on the Domancy coast, already conquered in 2016 (already on a time trial won by the yellow jersey Chris Froome) and in 2021 by the Grande Boucle. But this time it will be Domancy who acts as justice of the peace, in an infernal final: 2.5 kilometers at 9.4% then an arrival towards Combloux of two kilometers at more than 5%.
