It’s a shock for two teams who dream of Europe. For the first match of this 36th day of Ligue 1, Lyon (7th) welcomes Monaco (4th), on Friday 19 May at the Groupama Stadium.

After last week’s defeat in Clermont (1-2), Les Gones are now four points off fifth place, synonymous with qualification for the Europa League conference. “For Europe, it’s grated”, Laurent Blanc, the coach of Lyon, was even sorry after the defeat against Clermont (0-1). The Lyonnais need to establish themselves if they are to keep any hope of playing in Europe next year. With four points from four games, Monaco are now too far behind Marseille and Lens in the Champions League race. The Principality club hopes to consolidate fourth place by qualifying for the Europa League.
