It’s an ending in remake form. For the second year running, La Rochelle and Leinster meet in the European Cup final on Saturday 20 May in Dublin (live at 5.45pm on France 2 and france.tv).

Last year, Stade Rochelais overthrew Leinster (24-21) in the last minute by lifting the first trophy in their history, at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille. After eliminating Saracens in the quarterfinals (24-10) and Exeter in the semifinals (47-28), Ronan O’Gara’s team moves this time to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, in Leinster’s den, to keep its crown.

Fallen at the Stade Toulousain in the semifinals (41-22), the Irish, four times winners of the competition, can take revenge on the Rochelais, who have not lifted the trophy since the victory against Racing 92 in 2018. A new crowning would bring them to the level of the Toulouse, record holder of victories with five titles.
