On 26 May 1993, in Monaco, Marseille became the first French team to win the European Cup. A coronation for history, because OM remains the only French representative to have its name on the list.

On May 26, 1993 in Munich, two years after the defeat against Red Star Belgrade in the final of the European Cup after penalties, OM is again in the final. This time it’s Milan who show up on the road for the Marseilles. At the end of an uncertain game, thanks to a single goal scored by Badsile Boli, Bernard Tapie’s team became the first French team to lift the “cup with big ears”. 30 years after this historic final, relive this evening in images.

To face Milan, favorites in this European Cup final, OM coach Raymond Goethals has decided to rely on a tight 5-2-3 formation. After half an hour of play, Basile Boli asked for a substitution due to a problem in his left thigh.  OM president Bernard Tapie orders the centre-back to remain on the pitch.
