The president of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Gianni Infantino expressed his opinion on Monday 22 May “full solidarity” with the Brazilian player Vinicius Junior, victim of racist insults during Sunday’s Real Madrid match in Valence. The Real full-back claimed he was insulted with a ‘monkey’ by the Mestalla crowd.

“Full solidarity with Viniciuswrote the FIFA boss in a press release. There is no place for racism in football or in society and FIFA supports all players who have found themselves in such a situation.”

Infantino remembers the rules

Gianni Infantino also recalled the three stages implemented during the competitions organized by Fifa, in the event of racist insults and hoped that they “applied in all countries and all leagues”.

“First stop the game. Secondly, the players leave the field and the announcer announces that if the attacks continue, the game will be suspended. The game resumes, then, thirdly, if the attacks continue, the game will stop . and the three points will go to the opponent”recalled the president of Fifa.

In a very tense match, eventually won by Valencia (1-0), the Real striker Vinicius pointed his finger at a spectator, which triggered a scuffle on the ground. Finally the Brazilian he was sent off after a slap given to Hugo Duro. Many players, including his coach Carlo Ancelotti or Parisians Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, have sent him messages of support.
