Patrick Vieira is no longer the Crystal Palace manager. The French manager was removed from the Eagles bench on Friday 17 March, the club announced in a press release. “It is with great regret that we have made this difficult decision”commented Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish. “But recent results have put us in a precarious position and we believe a change is needed to give us the best chance of staying in the Premier League.”
The Eagles remain on a 12-game losing run without a win in all competitions and are 12th in the Premier League table. They were beaten by Brighton on Wednesday 15 March at the end of matchday eight (1-0), for what will remain Patrick Vieira’s last appearance on the bench.
The 1998 world champion was appointed manager of the London club in the summer of 2021, just months after being sacked by Nice. During his 20 months in charge, he guided the Eagles to the semi-finals of the FA Cup (2-0 defeat against Manchester City), and 12th place in the Premier League at the end of the 2021-2022 season.
