Deputy Svishchev explained the desire to force athletes to pay for the change of citizenship

State Duma Deputy of the Russian Federation Dmitry Svishchev commented on the information that he is preparing a bill on monetary compensation to be paid by athletes who change their sports citizenship in order to compete under the flag of another country.

“The law will be very complex. The main task is simple: to save our athletes, to prevent the loss of sports technologies that federations, our coaches and schools have been developing for decades. It is clear that everyone dreams of being Olympic champions, world champions. But now the country is in a difficult situation. It is necessary to approach the matter wholeheartedly and understand, support the country, ”the politician said, citing the championship.

He also noted that the vast majority of athletes are not going to leave Russia and are ready to endure suspension from participation in international competitions.
