It’s a big blow for the French team. Less than two months before the start of the World Cup, Olympique Lyonnais have announced that French forward Delphine Cascarino will be “absent from the ground for several months”. The Lyonnais suffers from a “partial rupture of the right anterior joint ligament” requiring surgery “tonic”. He will then miss the World Cup, which will take place from July 20 to August 20 in Australia and New Zealand.
Cascarino was injured in the second half of D1 Arkema’s matchday 21 poster against PSG, at the Parc des Princes on Sunday 21 May, after bad contact with his compatriot and teammate in selection Elisa de Almeida. He had participated in the celebrations for the title on the lawn with the other Lyonnais but could not hold back the tears. The company will make every effort to allow him to return to the best conditions for the next deadlines”explains OL in its press release.
At 26, the Lyonnaise is an essential element of the Bleues. From the top of his 56 selections, he participated in the 2019 World Cup and Euro 2022. His absence casts even more doubts in an offensive sector that already deplores the injuries of Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani, not sure of being able to go to the World Cup.
