Cherchesov told how he was fired in Budapest
Russian head coach Stanislav Cherchesov said he was informed of Hungary’s Ferencváros as head coach immediately after the final whistle in the second leg of the Champions League first qualifying round.
“After the final whistle, I went to the grandstand to see the president and his entourage. There it was announced that they had decided to part ways with me. I took this information to heart and left the box. That’s all. After that we never communicated with the president of Ferencváros and I haven’t seen him since. Bureaucratic affairs closed in one day at the club base. I note that we had a good time in Budapest: we felt a good attitude, and not only from the Ferencváros fans, said Izvestia quoting Cherchesov.
Cherchesov was sent off after Ferencváros’ home defeat against Faroe Klaksvik with the score 0:3. According to the sum of two meetings, the Faroese club went further in qualifying for the Champions League.
