Caroline Garcia, Lucas Pouille and Luca Van Assche in the second round, Novak Djokovic in the evening
Six French players will be looking to qualify for the third round on Wednesday, as will headliners Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka.
Who among the French to take a new step? Six tricolors will take the field on Wednesday 31 May for the start of the second round. In the lead, Caroline Garcia, fifth player in the world, will return to Philippe-Chatrier’s court, two days after her entry into the race. She will face Russian Anna Blinkova, in the second rotation.
Winner of a 100% French duel in the first round, Corentin Moutet will face world number 7 Andrey Rublev in the third rotation on the Simonne-Mathieu court. Author of a remarkable entry, the young Luca Van Assche will try to prolong his dream on the hot 14 short. He will face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at the end of the day, who beat another French nugget, Arthur Fils. At the same time, Lucas Pouille, in full recovery, will go up against the British Cameron Norrie, seeded No. 14 and winner of Benoît Paire for his entry into the race.
Several contenders for the overall win will also start their second round on Wednesday. World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will play against Japan’s Taro Daniel in the third rotation on center court. Aryna Sabalenka, whose opposition to Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk got a lot of ink flowing, will face Russia’s Iryna Shymanovich in the first round. Novak Djokovic, finally, will have the honors of the night session, against the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics.
