After the victory of Pascal Ackermann, the twelfth stage, 179 kilometers long, will take the riders from Bra to Rivoli on Thursday 18 May. With 2,300 meters of altitude difference and above all a second-category climb with 30 kilometers to go, victory could be disputed between experienced fighters, members of the morning breakaway or between sprinters overcoming the “bumps”.
After an eleventh stage marked by numerous crashes, which led in particular to the abandonment of his teammate, Tao Geoghegan Hart, Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers), is still leading the general classification with two seconds ahead of his main opponent: Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma), who also crashed on Wednesday. The podium is completed for the moment by the Portuguese from the United Arab Emirates, Joao Almeida, third, 22 seconds behind the leader.
