State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin saw in LGBT propaganda a threat of a change of power in Russia. According to him, the West deliberately uses the ideology of “denial of family values” to enslave countries.

“They change entire states, form a worldview, and then come to power through those who have adopted this ideology,” said the speaker of the State Duma (quoted by IA Regnum).

The head of the Information Policy Committee, Alexander Khinshtein, even called the LGBT an instrument of a hybrid war, in which Russia “must protect our society, our values, our children.”

“Obviously, our confrontation with the West is of a civilizational nature. Russia is an outpost for the protection and preservation of traditional values,” the deputy said.

A draft law has been submitted to the State Duma, according to which it is proposed to amend Art. 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among minors), changing its name to “Promotion of non-traditional sexual relations and (or) preferences”. In fact, the law, if passed, will equate “propaganda”, “popularization” and even just “sympathetic portrayal” of LGBT+ people with propaganda for war, extremism, drugs and suicide.

A bill to ban LGBT propaganda could be submitted to the State Duma next week and adopted in the first reading, and by the end of October in the remaining readings, Volodin noted. According to him, the document approved by the deputies may be signed by the President of Russia as early as November.
