US-STOCKS-Wall Street is volatile at the beginning of the session, markets expect a slowdown in Fed rate hikes

Jan 12 (Reuters) – Major U.S. indexes started trading higher on Thursday, but slipped into negative territory in the early hours of the session as data indicated weakening inflation, raising hopes that the US Fed will move to slow down monetary policy tightening.

The Dow Jones index fell 0.06% to 33.954.25 points by 17:34 GMT, the S&P 500 fell 0.07% to 3.966.93 points, and the Nasdaq fell 0.12% to 10.918.66 points. (Reuters office in Gdansk)
