The Turkish lira falls 3% to a new all-time low
ANKARA, June 7 (Reuters) – The Turkish currency fell to a new record low on Wednesday morning, continuing a decline that was revived as re-elected winner Tayyip Erdogan announced the composition of Turkey’s new government.
The lira weakened by 3.22% to 22.266 lira to the dollar at 8.34am Moscow time under the pressure of strong demand for foreign currencies. Its overall decline since the beginning of this year has reached 15.5%.
The previous all-time high against the dollar was 21.8 lira, set last week.
