The Kremlin refused to acknowledge the attack on a residential building in the Dnieper

Russian troops do not hit civilian targets in Ukraine, and a residential building in Dnipro was destroyed due to the actions of Ukrainian air defense systems. This, answering questions from journalists, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, Interfax reports.

“The Russian armed forces do not strike at residential buildings or social infrastructure facilities. Strikes are made against military targets, either obvious or camouflaged. You yourself saw the conclusion of some representatives of the Ukrainian side, which said that this tragedy was the result of the action of a counter-missile and air defense, ”Peskov said.

The Kremlin spokesman referred to the words of the adviser to the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich, who, on the YouTube channel of Mark Feygin, said that the Russian X-22 missile fell on the house after being shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces.

“She was shot down, she fell on the porch. She exploded as she fell. Well, besides that, there is a problem with acrid smoke – this is a sure sign of the X-22, because it is refueled with extremely toxic fuel. And this, apparently, is still to be sorted out and sorted out, but it can be assumed that it has also become an additional element of destruction, toxic fuel as such, ”said Arestovich.

Arestovich’s words were criticized by the mayor of Dnipro and the commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk. According to Oleshchuk, the Armed Forces of Ukraine “have no weapons capable of shooting down this type of missiles,” and the house was hit by an X-22 missile, which was launched from the Kursk region.

Arestovich later clarified that his words about the work of the air defense were an assumption. “Being even radically tired, I inserted reservations that my assumption about an air defense missile is just a version that still needs to be verified,” he said.

The Russian military during a massive strike on the territory of Ukraine on January 14 destroyed two entrances to a nine-story building in the Dnieper. As of noon on January 16, the death toll had risen to 40. Another 75 people were injured. 39 people were rescued from the rubble, the search for another 30 continues.
