The government called the cost of rebuilding the Crimean bridge

According to preliminary estimates by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Chusnullin, the cost of rebuilding the Crimean bridge after the terrorist attack will range from 1 to 1.3 billion rubles. This amount may increase in the future, he told TASS.

Khusnullin added that currently trucks will not be able to use the bridge for safety reasons. Part of the bridge span will have to be dismantled because it cannot be rebuilt. On July 18, the traffic of passenger cars in both directions was resumed on the Crimean bridge, but the reverse takes place only on the damaged section.

According to Khusnullin, it is initially planned to restore two-way traffic on one side by September 15, and on the other by November 1.

Sergei Pakhomov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction, Housing and Public Services, called the current situation on the Crimean Bridge less critical than the previous explosions that occurred in the fall of 2022. However, he stressed that the bridge, especially the Krymski bridge, is a unique and complex structure, therefore careful research of its reliability is required.

Khusnullin disagreed with the parliamentarian: the pillars of the bridge were not damaged, but one 600-ton span was completely destroyed, so it will not be possible to rebuild the bridge as easily as after the first strike last October. The minister admitted. “This technology doesn’t work here,” he is quoted by TASS. “Therefore, we will most likely build a temporary 250-meter bridge from which we will work and lift these spans with heavy cranes.”

At the same time, the cost of restoring one span of the bridge in October last year amounted to about 200-300 million rubles, reported member of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Municipal Economy Sergei Kolunov, referring to the estimates of insurers. “The increase in building material prices since then has been around 3.6%, he added.
