July 24 (Reuters) – U.S. energy companies reduced the number of oil and gas rigs for the second week in a row, oilfield services company Baker Hughes Co. BKR.O said on Friday. At the same time, the reduction of drilling rigs was the largest since the beginning of June.

The total number of drilling rigs, an indicator of future production levels, fell by six to 669 in the week ending July 21, the lowest number since March 2022.

The number of oil rigs fell by seven to 530, the fewest since March 2022.
