Su-25 attack aircraft crashed near Yeysk

The Su-25 attack aircraft crashed into the sea near the coast near the city of Yeysk in the Krasnodar Territory. The pilot managed to catapult, the regional operational command informed. According to telegram channels Baza, Shot and 112, the pilot died from injuries sustained during transport to the hospital, this information has not yet been officially confirmed.

Representatives of the Southern Military District told RIA Novosti that the Su-25 aircraft was carrying out a training flight and crashed near the airport. Preliminary cause – engine failure.

Rescuers rushed to the crash site immediately after the incident. The pilot was pulled out of the water and is receiving the necessary medical care. According to the Base, he broke his leg while splashing. Then the canopy of the parachute fell on the pilot. He became entangled in the ropes, but was able to hold out until rescuers arrived. He was pulled ashore alive but unconscious.

The plane crashed in the mouth of the Yeisk River, a bay in the northeastern part of the Sea of ​​Azov that separates Russia from the occupied territories of Ukraine. The attack aircraft is partially above the water: it has fallen into shallow water. Specialists from the Ministry of National Defense and special services are working on site.

There is a military airport controlled by the Ministry of Defense in Yejsk. In October 2022, a Su-34 fighter that took off from there crashed into a residential area in the city. Then 15 people died and more than 40 were injured. Due to the fact of the catastrophe, Great Britain initiated criminal proceedings under Art. 351 of the Criminal Code (violation of flight rules or preparation for them).
