Stock market gasoline prices in Russia eased slightly after a month of rapid growth

MOSCOW, May 15 (Reuters) – Average wholesale prices of high-octane motor gasoline AI-92 and AI-95 on the Saint Petersburg International Commodity Exchange (SPIMEX) halted their gains on Monday amid weakening demand and fell moderately in the second trading session A day after a sustained rally , which has been developing since the beginning of April, the stock exchange data showed. Traders point to a clear decline in wholesale demand activity due to the significant difference in wholesale prices, but believe that this is not a reversal, but merely a short respite followed by a likely resumption of gradual price increases. “The stock market has moved forward quickly and in many regions small wholesale prices are still attractive, which has made the stock market uninteresting. There is an offer, but the sales volumes fell because they did not buy at such prices,” explains the participant in exchange trading. According to another trader, stock prices have reached a level where buyers will already start to build fuel reserves. “Now we have reached levels where there is some resistance to further growth. There is no longer the marginality of the past at gas stations. It makes no sense to collect for the future, to create long-term reserves at such (price) levels, ”a large wholesale customer shares his opinion on the exchange. According to market participants, after a short correction, the prices of wholesale gasoline batches on the exchange may rise sharply again. “We need to look at the dynamics of a small warehouse. Small wholesale will certainly increase, then wholesale will go – demand will come back and raise prices. Gas station margins are bad, but oil companies have started to gradually increase retail prices, which supports private traders, so we will probably continue to raise prices soon,” said the trader.
