Russia launched a massive attack on Kiev with kamikaze drones

Russia attacked Kiev for the eleventh time since early May. A total of 18 Shahed kamikaze drones were launched. All were shot down, no one was injured, the Ukrainian Air Force said.

According to local authorities, “key facilities” were targeted. As a result of the fall of debris in the Dniprovsky district of Kiev, an apartment building caught fire. The fire has been extinguished, no casualties. A petrol station and cars were damaged in the Darnitsky district, windows of a residential building in the Pechersk region, and the road surface and vehicles in the Solomen region.

Two more kamikaze drones were shot down to the east and south, the Merlin-VR reconnaissance drone was destroyed. The authorities noted that with regular attacks, Russia seeks to exhaust Ukraine’s air defense resources and keep the inhabitants “in deep psychological stress.”

According to the head of the Kharkiv regional administration, Oleg Sinegubov, 21 settlements were attacked. One person was killed and another was injured. Residential houses and outbuildings were damaged.

The Kherson district prosecutor’s office reported that a married couple was killed in a raid on a residential building in Beryslavl, and one person was injured in the village. At the same time, the region was shelled 53 times a day.

In the Donetsk region, two people were killed and the same number were injured, said the head of the regional administration Pavel Kirilenko. Nine people were injured in the Zaporizhia regionDuring the day, the region was shelled 92 times.

In addition, on the morning of May 20, Russia struck Sloviansk. One house was destroyed, 9 more were damaged. There were no casualties.

Russia attacked Ukraine on February 24, 2022. According to the UN, by mid-May 2023, at least 8,836 civilians were killed and 14,985 wounded as a result of hostilities.
