Producer prices in the UK unexpectedly fell in December

Jan 25 (Reuters) – Britain’s producer price index was minus 0.8% on a monthly basis in December, the Office for National Statistics said on Wednesday. Analysts had expected prices to rise 0.3%.

On an annual basis, selling prices rose 14.7%, slowing growth from a revised 17.5% in November.

The core UK producer price index, which does not take into account food, tobacco products, alcohol and energy, was up 12.4% on an annual basis and 0.1% on a monthly basis in December. (Reuters office in Gdansk)
