Kadyrov’s nephew headed the nationalized “daughter” of Danone

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of Chechnya, Yakub Zakriev, has become the new general director of Danone Russia, writes The Bell, citing SPARK data.

The management of the “daughter” of the French holding Danone changed after its actual nationalization. Decree on The transfer of foreign shares to the Federal Asset Management Agency was signed on 16 July by President Vladimir Putin. Previously, the company was led by Cappetti Charlie Victor Henricus.

Zakriev, 32, is the nephew of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. He is the son of his sister Zargan. Zakriev is a graduate of the Moscow Suvorov Military School and the Higher School of State Control of the Moscow State University with a degree in economics. From 2013, he held various managerial positions in the republic, including he was the head of the Kadyrov administration and the mayor of Grozny.

Bell’s sources noted that the nationalization of the Russian assets of dairy producer Danone had “interests in Chechnya.” After Putin’s decree on the farm stated that they would investigate the situation and take “all necessary measures to protect their rights as a shareholder of Danone Russia and ensure business continuity” in the interests of their employees.

IN Last year, the division’s annual revenue amounted to 93 billion rubles. In the fall, the French holding announced its intention to sell the local business, excluding the baby food segment. So far, nothing is known about potential investors.

Danone has 16 enterprises in Russia. The brand portfolio includes Prostokvashino, Activia, Actimel, Rastishka, Danissimo, Danone, BioBalance, Tyoma and others. After the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the company suspended all investment activities in the country, and at the end of April it stopped importing products under the Evian and Alpro brands.

It was known before another company, Baltica, nationalized by Putin, owned by the Danish Carlsberg, was headed by Taimuraz Bolloev. He directed it already in the years 1991-2004.
