Kadyrov was awarded the medal of “Meritorious Defender of Human Rights” of Chechnya

The leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, was awarded the medal “Distinguished Human Rights Activist of the Chechen Republic”. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Ombudsman of the Republic of Mansur Soltayev.

The medal was awarded to Kadyrov for “outstanding services in protecting the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens”.

According to Soltayev, not a single case of human rights violations has been recorded in Chechnya. The Ombudsman called counter-reports an “information terrorist provocation”. Earlier, the UN and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe drew attention to the violation of human rights in the North Caucasus.
