MOSCOW, Jan 25 (Reuters) – In Russia, about 94% of winter crops are in good and satisfactory condition, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation said following the results of the operational headquarters for the preparation of the spring sowing campaign.
The situation is better than the national average in large agricultural regions such as the Rostov and Volgograd regions, where 98% of winter crops are in good order. And in the Krasnodar Territory, 100% of all crops have successfully germinated.
Previously, industry analysts doubted good overwintering of grain crops due to tough weather that had reduced snow cover in some areas, reduced moisture and frozen soils.
Sowing of winter crops in the Russian Federation for the 2023 crop was reported on an area of 17.7 million hectares compared to 18.4 million hectares a year earlier. (Olga Popova)
