In Kazan, three students were detained for arson on the railway

In Kazan, three teenagers were detained on suspicion of setting fire to relay cabinets on the railway near the Derbyshki station, Baza writes. The issue of initiating a criminal case for sabotage is being resolved. The maximum penalty under this article is 20 years in prison.

The incident happened on May 18. As a result, four cabinets were completely burned and five freight trains were delayed on the railroad tracks.

Investigators determined that three students aged 14-15 were involved in the arson. Two of them have already been prosecuted for property damage.

This is not the first such case recently. Previously, for trying to set fire to a relay cabinet three teenagers were arrested in the Novosibirsk region. They explained that some people from Telegram promised to pay them 10,000 rubles for sabotage.

Three other students were suspected of a similar act of sabotage on the railway in Udmurtia. Then the arson failed – the equipment was covered only with soot.

Sabotage on Russian railways has become more frequent since last fall. As calculated by Mediazona, as of April 13 law enforcement authorities detained at least 66 people in such cases. Three of them are minors.

According to the publication, most of the cases began according to one scenario: a group of young people was detained for setting fire to a relay cabinet (it contains devices that regulate the movement of trains), which an unknown person on Telegram asked them to do for money. In addition to the relay cabinet, according to the investigating authorities, the targets of the sabotage were rails, traction substations, section poles and locomotives.
