ECB will carefully consider post-July inflation data: head of the Dutch central bank

AMSTERDAM, July 18 (Reuters) – The European Central Bank will watch closely for signs of a decline in inflation in the coming months to avoid raising interest rates too sharply, Klaas Knoth, ECB director and president of the Dutch central bank, said on Tuesday.

“We need to watch carefully what the data shows. So far, we were mainly afraid of the risk of inflation continuation. But the balance of risk is gradually shifting, and more attention needs to be paid to the risk that we may be overzealous,” he told Bloomberg.
