Belarus expects to export 8 million tons of potash fertilizers in the 23rd quarter
MOSCOW, July 18 (Reuters) – Belarus expects to export 8 million tons of potash fertilizers this year, the state news agency BelTA reported, citing Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov.
“Fulfilling the tasks set, we will achieve 8 million tons of fertilizer sales this year,” said Snopkow. “This suggests that, in principle, the sales system is built efficiently.”
Belarus was the world’s largest exporter of potash fertilizers and sold over 10 million tons of potash a year until early 2022, when Lithuania banned the transit of Belarusian fertilizers through its territory. As a result, fertilizer exports fell by 60% last year.
According to Snopkov, due to the sanctions, the cost of Belarusian potassium logistics increased 2-2.5 times. (Moscow office)
