Summer jobs in the Tarn-et-Garonne: there are still offers available for the month of August

The shortage of candidates for summer jobs is also a reality in the Tarn-et-Garonne. While the summer holidays are well underway, seasonal job vacancies are still available for the month of August in various sectors.

For young people, summer jobs are an opportunity for their first contact with the world of work. In addition to enriching CVs, they are trainers in terms of interpersonal skills and abilities. A useful experience therefore for them, but also for companies: “The Tarn-et-Garonne is very touristic, so students’ mastery of foreign languages, and their computer skills are coveted by companies”, explains Gérald Capel , territorial delegate director of Pôle Emploi 82 and 46.

In this winning operation for both parties, Pôle emploi intervenes to bring together supply and demand: “We encourage companies to publish their ads, and we also distribute specialized sites offering job offers in particular sectors. For example, in the animation the arms are missing, so we report the site Planèt’anime, specific for this field”.

In fast food restaurants and bars, Tarn-et-Garonne is missing about fifty people, according to the UMIH (Union des Métiers et des Industries de l’Hôtellerie) 82. For Pierre Henri Vidal, its director, “the 17- 25 year olds are very eager to make some money. But the further away you get from Montauban, the fewer demands there are. I don’t think they necessarily have on-site accommodation or transportation. Furthermore, it is sometimes difficult to take care of 16-18 year olds because legal restrictions prevent them from working on Sundays and after 21:00, in particular,” says Pierre Henri Vidal.

Forum to try to attract young people

Olivier Asce, director of labour, economy and the territory for the community of communes Grand Sud Tarn-et-Garonne, testifies: “On seasonal jobs, we organized two forums, one of which directly at the Montech high school, before graduating from maturity. Despite these demonstrations, there is a lack of candidates, which has made some companies give up, for example they have resigned themselves to opening the restaurant only at lunchtime”.

The shortage of personnel affects the tourism sector as well as the logistics or commercial professions. “If young people are still looking for work for the month of August, we welcome them to find solutions at the employment service in Montech, Grisolles, as well as by appointment in Labastide-Saint-Pierre, Verdun-sur-Garonne and Villebrumier ”, adds Olivier Asce.

Job offers are available on the grandsud82.fr website in the employment section.
