Saint-Orens de Gameville: François Ruffin and the deputies of Nupes de Haute-Garonne at the bedside of Scopelec employees

In the parking lot of the Scopelec company located in Saint-Orens de Gameville, employees in orange or gray outfits are gathered in large numbers. In the center of this improvised circle where discussions are going well tricolor scarves. François Piquemal, MP for the 4th constituency of Haute-Garonne, Hadrien Clouet MP for the 1st constituency, Anne Stambach-Terrenoir, MP for the 2nd constituency and Christophe Bex for the 7th constituency made the trip alongside François Ruffin the MP for La Insubordinate France. Stakes ? The potential receivership of the antenna of Scopelec, specialized in telecommunications, located in Saint-Orens de Gameville. A hundred jobs are threatened. The decision should be made within a week. “It’s a scandal. Where is the state in this case? Especially when it is the largest shareholder,” annoys François Ruffin. Like his fellow deputies, he intends to take this case to the highest level of the state so that “Orange respects its part of the market”. “I came to tell them not to resign themselves. We have to play the match to the end and for that I invite the employees to go to Paris and ring the bells for them at the government, at the Ministry of the Economy” , still hammers the deputy of the Somme. Words that resonate in the midst of these employees with an annoyed look.

“We are dying”

“We want to support these employees because it is we, the deputies of the Nupes who are campaigning for wage increases for workers. When jobs are threatened, obviously we come to support them”, continues François Piquemal. Everyone takes the time to discuss with the employees. They do not hide their despair. “We learned in March that a big contract with Orange, our only partner, had been lost, the only one that guaranteed us cash inflows. Now what are we doing? We are dying and we don’t know what to do”, cowardly, exhausted, an employee.

During this mobilization, François Ruffin dialed the telephone number of Dominique Faure, former mayor of Saint-Orens de Gameville and now Secretary of State in charge of Rurality. The latter, at the other end of the line, assured that she was “sensitive to this file” and that she “brought her full support” to the employees of this company.

The story is not over since, galvanized by the support of these elected government officials, the employees intend to follow their recommendations by organizing a trip to Paris to make their anger heard.
