Rally of the Abeille Gasconne, to discover beekeeping

the essential
This Saturday July 29 in Monflanquin, the Abeille Gasconne will kick off the first edition of its educational and promotional meeting.

The departure of this excursion on the theme of beekeeping will take place on Saturday 29 July 2023 at 11 am at the Monflanquin rugby stadium. Participants who have registered by calling the organization will then be able to travel at their own pace between the different places of visit. The latter will be three in total and each will present a different element on beekeeping and its promotion. The Syndicat de l’Abeille Gasconne will therefore carry out one of its two missions by highlighting the profession of beekeeper while its other role is to defend the interests of its professional honey producers. It is an important appointment for this profession of “craftsmen-peasants” as Patrick Ganziera likes to call it, at the helm of the union for a few months.

Many activities

As indicated above, 3 stages will be on the rally road book. Everyone will choose the order in which they want to discover the profession of beekeeper. The first site will offer a visit to an apiary with an adapted suit similar to the equipment used by farmers. A second place will offer a Lot-et-Garonne agricultural market where beekeepers, producers of foie gras and other agricultural products of the department will be present. “Finally, the participants will have the opportunity to learn more about royal jelly and its production in contact with a farmer who exports it all over the world” points out Patrick Granziera.

“To all this is added a quiz on the themes of the history of the towns and villages that will be crossed and a quiz on beekeeping” he explains in this car ride. To round off the day “like the Gascons”, a lunch is organized at the starting point of the gathering as a friendly celebration of the passion of the beekeepers and the interest and curiosity of all the participants.
