Paramount+ launches first mobile-only subscription in Mexico and Brazil
(ETX Daily Up) – For the first time, Paramount+ launches an offer exclusively for phones. This subscription will give you access to the same catalog, but it will be cheaper and ad-free. It will only be available in two South American countries, Mexico and Brazil.
“With tiered pricing options, Paramount+ will reach even more subscribers by providing more choices to customers and expanding our direct-to-consumer global distribution. As mobile entertainment consumption increases worldwide, an option mobile-only will make our lineup of programming more accessible to our audiences in countries where mobile is king,” said Marco Nobili, executive vice president and international general manager, Paramount+.
It is in Brazil and Mexico that the platform has decided to launch its brand new offer adapted to the current mode of consumption. A choice motivated by an internal study which showed that over 50% of the online population in these two countries used their smartphone to access streaming services. The targeted subscription will allow access to the Paramount + catalog, but only via mobile or tablet, and all without advertising.
It will take 14.90 Brazilian reals per month, or 2.66 euros, or 133.90 Brazilian reals per year in Brazil, or about 24 euros, and 79 pesos per month, about 4 euros, or 709 per year in Mexico, or just over 35 euros . Standard subscriptions cost 19.90 Brazilian reals (3.55 euros) per month or 178.90 per year (31.88 euros), respectively, compared to 109 pesos (5.40 euros) per month and 979 pesos (49 euros). ) per year in Mexico.
“This new offering is part of our overall strategy to develop the Paramount+ offering,” revealed Marco Nobili.
Paramount, however, is not a pioneer in this area. Netflix had already tried the experience in India with a similar offer before exporting to the rest of Asia and even Africa.
