On Twitter, “Barbie” generated 2.4 million tweets

The film “Barbie” was released in cinemas this Wednesday July 19 after an important promotion around the world, widely broadcast on social networks. Between the pink milkshake, discussions about the “Barbie Pink” color, the creation of a movie-inspired meme, and the “Barbenheimer” trend, the mythical doll has been the subject of much discussion online. And according to Visibrain, the social media monitoring tool, 2.4 million tweets about the movie “Barbie” were posted on Twitter in the past four days. Before the film’s release on Wednesday, the bizarre feature film directed by Greta Gerwig already had 1.8 million tweets.
Screening on the same day, Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer” is also less captivating on social media with the blue bird. According to Visibrain, the historical biopic has generated four times fewer tweets with 659,000 messages posted in the past four days versus 478,000 tweets prior to its theatrical release.
And the success of “Barbie” also benefits its production studio, Warner Bros., which has been the focus of 48,000 tweets posted in the past four days. Once again, the Universal Pictures studio behind “Oppenheimer” is worth half of its competitor on Elon Musk’s platform with 20,000 tweets posted.
