IN IMAGES, IN IMAGES. Cheese, cows and horses: a beautiful celebration of taste and flavors in Montauban
At the Ramier farm in Montauban, the festival of tastes and flavors once again attracted a large crowd throughout the day on Sunday 23 July. A way to discover farm life, its evolution, good local products and to spend a day with the family.
At the beginning of Sunday afternoon, the parking lot of the Ramier farm, in Montauban, is still well packed. Perfectly guided by the volunteers of the Tarn-et-Garonne organization, we find ourselves on the field to come and park our vehicle. Beware of small holes, despite the good work done by the shock absorbers. Once stopped, we put the straw hat of penalty on our heads and here we are at the heart of the matter.
The well-laid tables in the shade of the plane trees.
From the central nave, flanked by plane trees that form a shady path, one dives into the world of the farm. To the left, the first fruit stalls give off an inviting scent. But don’t get lost from the very first steps, otherwise the day could be endless…

A walk through the alleys of the Ramier farm.
On digestion, many families or friends take advantage of the draft to rest and refresh themselves on the tables provided for this purpose. There’s water of course, but also a few half bottles of beer and bottles of rosé, a summer must, to be consumed in moderation despite everything.

Tome du Ramier, the unmissable cheese of the day.
A Quercy wine stall or local beer here, an ice cream platform stormed there, one proceeds to the draft horse exhibition. Despite everything, beware of the dazed passerby: the engines of tractors from different eras roar in the lanes, you can immediately honk the horn!

An old-fashioned family-driven tractor.
The heat also exhausts the musicians, around Yves Luminati, who have come to make the visitors dance and sing. Coincidentally (or not?), the bar is located not far from the musical group. And, new coincidence (or not?), a few moments after our arrival, the train stops. Here the descent of some and the ascent of others is expected. What drives crime? We wouldn’t be far from thinking about it…

Stop for two minutes in front of the refreshment bar for the little train.
We come to our senses and head straight to the barn, the highlight of the show for Noam and his mother Ludivine. “We are regulars at the party, explains the mother. We come every year. We have done the children’s birthdays too.” The little boy is proud: “One year I even baptized a calf! I called it Little Heart”, he says, under his cap and hand full of hay.

Horses appreciate being stroked when they are resting in the shade.
Her older sister Tiana also celebrated her sixth birthday here. That was five years ago. “He had named a cow Petrus. He carries the number 8395. We had seen her last year! But not yet this year…” Ludivine explains. Petrus probably hides while his older sister is out for a walk with Wilfried, his father. They should be back at the barn in a few minutes. The reunion promises to be filled with happiness…
