In Cahors, a bicycle repair workshop set up by the city and the Véloterie
Two bicycle repair totems have been set up in Cahors. One, place François-Mitterrand and the other place Bessières. They provide tools for people to fix their bikes. A repair workshop was organized by the city and the Véloterie on Saturday morning.
Here the hands are black. Soot black, of course. Because repairing your bike and having clean hands don’t go hand in hand. Here, it is on Place François Mitterrand in Cahors where a repair stand was set up this Saturday morning.
Right next to the marquee is a terminal, a new arrival on the square. His goal? Enable people who want to use self-service tools to fix their bike. There are two that have been installed in Cahors, as another is located in the Place Bessières. What can you find in these places? Screwdrivers of different sizes, a combination wrench, a star wrench and a tire lever. For a small surcharge in the city center, a universal inflating head and a pressure gauge for measuring tire pressure.

A laboratory open to all
Thus, to promote these terminals and allow passers-by to learn how to repair a bicycle, a workshop was organized this Saturday morning, in collaboration with the Véloterie. This association, based in Cahors, specializes in the field of repairs. Nicolas Kerebel, present on Saturday morning, explains: “What is important to us is the circular economy (limiting consumption, the production of waste and waste). Our members (free price) bring their bicycles back to us and, afterwards, there are two possibilities. Or they give them to us, in this case we fix them and resell them at a bargain price.

All the technical points you need to know about a bicycle.
Place François-Mitterrand, about ten get busy on their bikes. “We help them, we guide them, so they can try to do it later,” Nicolas develops. Among the cyclists there are confirmed ones who manage almost on their own, who only came there to deliver tools. “And also because it’s even more fun here than alone at home” assures one of them. There are beginners, who need a lot of help. “It’s important for us to do outdoor workshops. It allows us to have novices who don’t necessarily know us as an association” confirms Nicolas Krebel. And finally, there are the in-between ones like Gérald. “I took this bike to a repairman, they told me it was dead. They can do something here, it’s fantastic.”

The goal is to repair the bike independently.
From now on, if you have a problem with your bike, these two new mufflers will allow you to get back on the bike.
