Gers: Garros Services relaunches with a laundromat that employs five people on integration in Auch
The district management company has recently developed a new structuring business: a laundry for professionals has recently opened its doors in the heart of the Garros district. It employs five people in integration and a technical supervisor and wants to process up to 100 kg of flat linen per day.
Garros Services had been working on it for six months and it was a few days late that his project saw the light. The neighborhood management, which promotes the integration of people away from the world of work, recently opened its laundry for tourism and catering professionals.
The laundry room is located in two buildings, in the heart of Garros.
Thus, a brand new activity is starting, the installation of which was possible thanks to the rapid financial support of many actors in the area, while the Auscitaine structure had just lost a historic and decisive contract with the Office public de l’habitat du Gers. The total investment, to purchase new machines and complete what Garros Services had, was in fact over €120,000. “Without the mobilization of the State and local authorities, as well as a donation from the Vinci Foundation for the City, this new activity would not have been possible, points out Isabelle Labart. It is a strong signal for the maintenance of management and employment in the neighbourhood”.
Up to 100 kg of laundry per day
Because it is right in the heart of Garros that the laundry opened its doors ten days ago. Two buildings in the impasse de l’Alouette thus welcome the five employees returning to work and the technical supervisor who are working on this new activity.

Dirty laundry is washed, folded, ironed and dried.
In one of the houses there are five washing machines capable of treating 40 kg of laundry at the same time. Using a trolley, the workers carry the sheets, duvets or towels up to the modular building where the other appliances are located, including a grille (which allows the different pieces to be ironed), a dryer and an ironing station.

The employees have been trained in the use of the machines, especially the calender.
“All the people who work in the laundry have been trained, in particular by going to visit the neighborhood authorities who have already developed this activity, indicates Isabelle Labart. It is essential that we have the necessary rigor in relation to safety and maintenance, positioning ourselves on quality teamwork”. Garros Services has found its first customers and hopes, within a few months, to be able to process 100 kg of linen per day.

Gers: in great financial difficulty, the management of the Garros Services district wants to diversify its activity
For this reason, the management has created two further integration jobs: two people will ensure, once a week, the collection of the laundry directly from the customers, for the moment mainly located in the northern area of the department. “It is the first time that the employees will have missions so far from Auch”, assures the director, who is breathing a little after a few difficult months for Garros Services, whose survival was still uncertain in February. “Less than a year later, the management of the district restarts with a new structuring activity, which should allow the evaluation of new projects”.
