Figéac. The Arts Envies store comes back to life for the summer
Like last year, as summer approaches, around twenty artisans have opened the doors of the Arts Envies boutique, a creation and exhibition space dedicated to them, at 6 rue Séguier. Event held in the presence of Hélène Lacipière, Vice-President of Grand Figeac in charge of culture and heritage representing Mayor André Mellinger, Vincent Labarthe, President of Grand Figeac, Marta Luis, Councilor for Tourism and City Center Shops, François Breil, President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Lot, accompanied by Caroline Salvin and Vincent Fromentèze of the Chamber of Commerce, and numerous municipal councilors and municipal services agents.
For the elected, “this shop is a real art gallery, born from the common desire of the chamber of commerce and the city to offer a space to artisans, too often isolated in their workshops. Lots of news for this 2023 season, and we are happy to welcome them, hoping that visitors, locals and tourists will come and discover them. City of art and history, Figeac also wishes to obtain the label of city of artistic trades. This gallery is the first step”.
“I really enjoy coming here,” said François Breil, because it’s an excellent opportunity to highlight people who are talented and who, through this shop, participate in the promotion of the entire craft world.”
Together with this Vincent Labarthe, in the desire to enhance artisans who are often solitary in their work: “We offer them a beautiful showcase that they will know how to exploit, I have no doubts. We want to look for this city with a handicraft label, to show that Figeac is always at the forefront of initiatives and development. This label would allow us to further enhance the attractiveness of the city and the region.”
Léonor Falhun, jewelry designer in Pézize bio materials and wood, already present in 2022, assures us: “This experience has brought me a lot. Here I can give more visibility to my work and the fact of exhibiting to more people gives us confidence. We can also organize small events. For us it is really an advantage”.
