Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced to the Interministerial Committee for Road Safety on Monday that it will be possible to request a dematerialized version of his driving license from 2024. This dematerialized driving license is available “in parallel with this physical licence”, specifies the minister. However, you must have a biometric identity card, the new version of the identity card in blue paper format and which has an electronic chip and a QR code, to be able to apply for this driving licence. The Vitale card will also be affected by dematerialisation from 2026.
