Condom: Graziac’s Double Lock Party Invitation
The department council presents this Thursday the eighth edition of its sweet summer hours from this site to discover or rediscover.
Almost 30 years have passed since the Baîse found its boats, now pleasure boats, and sees them circulate on its waters from April to October, between Condom and Valence. Rehabilitated by the Department, the old towpath, where horses and men carried electricity to the boats, is now a path accessible to all on foot, by bicycle, in a wheelchair, in a stroller or even on horseback. From Condom, it connects the Flaran abbey and the fortified city of Valence-sur-Baïse.
Along the way, it is worth (re)discovering a remarkable work, the Graziac double lock, which is still operated by hand today. The two guardians of the lock ensure the proper functioning of this complex equipment, built in the 19th century. It is on this site that the eighth edition of the Douces Heures Estivales will open, proposed by the departmental council, in collaboration with the town hall of Valence-sur-Baïse, the Cavéa and the tourist office of Ténarèze. The initiative aims, in a festive way, to highlight the Baïse path and the departmental sites.
From 6 pm, the Fleurantine band of Los Pagayos will welcome the public for a free concert but reservations are required, given the limited number of seats. It should also be noted that, for greater convenience, visitors are advised to park in the Graziac site car park before the concert.
Spectators will have the opportunity to picnic on site before the 8pm nature walk begins, led by a facilitator from the Permanent Center for Environmental Initiatives (CPIE), from Graziac to Flaran Abbey. A walk of about 4 km on the path to listen to nocturnal species and rediscover wildlife, from amphibians to mammals and nocturnal birds of prey.
The arrival in Flaran, in its candlelit garden, will be an opportunity to taste the herbal teas from the abbey garden. At the end of the evening, a shuttle will take those who wish from Flaran to Graziac, always upon registration.
