A month of June marked by bad weather
Tourism. The departmental agency for attractiveness and tourism presented a note on the situation to evaluate the tourist attractiveness during the season. The first results of the professionals interviewed in June show a drop in activity compared to last year but are encouraging for summer bookings.
From the point of view of tourist attendance, the following facts can be observed:
– a lower volume of overnight stays throughout June 2023 compared to June 2022,
– a less favorable 2023 calendar than that of 2022 in June (weekend of
Pentecost from 4 to 6 June 2022),
– an increase in attendance between the 2nd and 3rd week of June 2023 compared to the same period in June 2022,
– a majority presence of visitors from neighboring departments (< 3 hours by car),
– a top 3 list of foreign tourists from Holland, the United Kingdom and Germany.
For the tourism professionals who attended at the end of June (more than 570 interviewees), the following points emerge:
– tourist activity in June down compared to May,
– mixed weather, mainly in early June, which affected attendances and especially outdoor activities,
– a good presence of group customers in June,
– a difficult projection of tourist activity in July,
– the month of August should deliver on its promises given the good booking rates to date,
– last minute bookings scheduled for this summer,
– shorter stays than in previous years, especially for French customers.
Finally, the destination maintains its excellent image among tourists, as more than 90% of positive opinions are recorded. Clients highlight the quality of the services offered by the department, the warm welcome of the people of Aveyron and the beauty of the landscapes.
